Will Florida baseball make the 2024 NCAA Tournament? Here's where the Gators stand

Chances for a 17th straight NCAA Tournament trip for Florida baseball under head coach Kevin O'Sullivan look bleak entering the final SEC series of the season.

The Florida Gators (26-25, 11-16 SEC) may need to pull off a sweep at No. 8 Georgia to get back on the right side of the bubble, or at the very least, take 2 of 3 and make a run the following week at the SEC Tournament.

Florida has dropped six straight SEC series, dating back to taking 2 of 3 from Mississippi State from March 29-31.

"We know what we need to do," O'Sullivan said. "It's still right there in front of us. It's not like we can't do it, we've just made a difficult road a little bit more difficult."

The Florida-Georgia series will pit two of the top hitters in college baseball against one another åüÃÄÖ±²¥” Georgia first baseman Charlie Condon against Florida two-way standout Jac Caglianone, who will play first base or DH the first two games of the series and pitch on Saturday. Condon leads the country in batting average (.454), home runs (34) and slugging percentage (1.082).

Caglianone is batting .418 on the season with 28 home runs and 55 RBIs. On Sunday, Caglianone extended his hit streak to 30 games, tying Jacob Young for the UF record.

"I don't know if it's going to be a whole lot of fun for me, seeing Charlie in the box," O'Sullivan said. "We're going to have to figure out a way to get him out, and the way things are going, maybe both guys will get walked double-digit times."

What is the Florida baseball RPI?

±Ê±ð°ùÌý, Florida's RPI sits at 30 with its 26-25 record. The Gators have played the No. 2 strength of schedule in the country. Florida is 11-16 against Quad 1 opponents, 2-6 against Quad 2 teams, 2-2 against Quad 3 teams and 11-1 vs. Quad 4 teams.
